Chameleons are becoming more widespread as they are introduced into new areas and more species are discovered. The main
cradle of chameleons no doubt lies in Africa. Madagascar is the heart of where most chameleons are found however they do range
throughout much of the south eastern areas of the mainland Africa and as far North as Southern Europe.
Recently they have been introduced to Hawaii and new reports hail from Florida.
Chameleons habitat range from desert (exclusively the Namaqua chameleon [C. namaquensis] to rainforest, to montane forests,
to savannah edge to the dark forest floor. Their wide range of habitat means researching the specific species you plan to
keep.
